Update: Congratulations to Sarah (comment #5). She is the winner of the copy of the book.
After a month of Thanksgiving posts, I needed a little time out of the kitchen. We’ve all earned a post that’s NOT about food! So, I took past two weeks off and crammed it full of quality family time, new projects and trying as hard as I can to get just one good night’s sleep. Now I’m back into the swing of our normal routine and ready to share something fun with you. A few weeks ago, the lovely people at Cooking Light Magazine sent me a copy of the new book The Unforgettable Photograph: 228 Ideas, Tips and Secrets for taking the Best Pictures of Your Life by the amazing photographer George Lange with Scott Mowbray (the Cooking Light Editor and Chief).
What I find most intriguing about this book is that although it is a book on how to take better pictures, it is not a textbook. Rather it shows through unique examples how making small changes can make you a better picture taker. Every page shares another simple easy way for anyone to take a great picture.
I decided to take just one idea and see what came of a ten minute shoot with the twins. Idea #64 is “Drop to the Floor” and get on eye-level with the little ones to see the world from their view. The twins LOVED this idea and were hard to catch still long enough to shoot. However, I did catch some great shots that catch their real personalities much better than more organized pictures of them.
I love how Miss Magoo is mostly in shadow in this picture except for her crazy hair; but you can still make out her one of a kind infectious smile!
I love the angle in this picture. Squishy is about to break out into a huge giggle, but the moment caught was more thoughtful. I love it because is so unusual to see him without a massive smile on his face.
And here’s that fun personality. Squishy Delishy loves life (and milk).
It was hard to get a picture of Miss Magoo because she was so interested in getting a closer look at the lens of the camera and kept trying to put her eye right up to the lens to look back at me through the camera.
